Home automation is a term we are hearing more and more often these days, and the popularity of these various options and services appears to be on the rise.
Hanson Audio Video serves Southwest Ohio with showrooms in Dayton and Cincinnati staffed with experts in the various possibilities of smart home automation.
Troy Hanson, owner of Hanson Audio Video, said common options include whole-house music, TV, movies, video games, security, lighting, shades and temperature control.
However, automated controls that create a sequence of events while using a single application are the most popular, he added.
Hanson has a couple examples of how useful these tools can be.
“When returning home and the garage door opens – automatically shut off the security system, brighten the interior lights and turn on the music in the kitchen,” he said.
“At bedtime, press ‘good-night,’ and automated processes of shutting the garage doors, locking house doors, lowering shades, adjusting to nighttime temperature, activating the security system and turning off all the common-area lights around the house occur.”
And while these are great examples, the possibilities of home automation and its benefits for the users seemingly are almost endless.
“There are over 9,000 different home devices that can be controlled automatically on an individual basis or in a scene environment,” Hanson said. “Controlling this in a single app vs. potentially hundreds of individual apps is a huge advantage when working with Hanson. The key to home automation is improving your lifestyle, and automating specific processes can assist in making that happen.”
Recently devices operated by voice controls are making a lot of noise. Hanson has that covered, too.
“We are also integrating voice control, through such devices as the Amazon Echo, tied into our automation systems, which allows you to initiate actions with a simple voice command,” Hanson said.
Now you may be thinking, “Wow, this all sounds great, but it looks intimidating.”
“It can be as easy as operating a light switch, issuing a voice command or using a smart phone or universal remote for your TV,” Hanson said. “These services also provide the user convenience and peace of mind away from home, as they can be controlled from anywhere at anytime.”
