According to a report published in 2016, more than 50 percent of Americans over the age of 18 drink coffee every day, and 30 million of those coffee drinkers opt for specialty beverages (lattes, cappuccinos, mochas, etc.).
So there is no doubt Americans have a tremendous thirst for coffee – and we found that many of them would like to have the option to have the specialty drinks they get at coffee shops right in their own home.
To learn more about built-in coffee systems, we turned to Reese Dorsey, General Manager at The Appliance Loft in Cincinnati.
“As consumers are finding less and less time to fit in daily activities or to comply with rigorous schedules, built-in coffee systems are becoming more popular, as they are extremely efficient with the time and effort it takes to produce a barista-quality hot beverage,” said Dorsey.
And it turns out that today’s built-in coffee systems can do everything your favorite barista can do.
Dorsey noted that users can produce a variety of beverages, including ristretto, espresso, espresso macchiato, coffee cappuccino, latte macchiato, café latte, milk froth, warm milk and hot water for multiple beverages.
To get this level of coffee possibilities, a homeowner must have a large space for this appliance to go, right?
Not exactly. In fact, Dorsey said he is seeing a fun trend.
“Built-in coffee systems do require a certain amount of space, but it is less than the space required for many built-in microwaves,” Dorsey said. “One interesting trend is consumers are finding space in their closets for built-in coffee systems so they can have a barista-style beverage steps from their bed without having to go to the kitchen.”
Built-in coffee systems, such as those available at The Appliance Loft, are quite customizable, allowing users to create complex hot beverages with a push of a button.
“The system does all the ‘barista’ work for you,” Dorsey said. “Most systems have favorite selections, so different consumers can have a favorite drink stored into the memory of the unit and accessed through one touch.”
Some additional benefits to these latest appliances include cost savings and cleaning simplicity.
“Consumers can produce the same quality of hot beverage for a fraction of the cost of visiting a local coffee shop,” Dorsey said. “Today’s systems also make it incredibly simple to clean and maintain. The systems notify the consumer and give step-by-step directions of how to easily keep the unit clean.”
