A shift in perspective

Kitchen remodel is designed with a lake view in mind

The kitchen shows subtle shifts in color: black island cabinets with stainless hardware; gray perimeter cabinets with black hardware; quartzite on the island and granite on the perimeter.

The couch is actually a sofa bed, and used often when the house overflows with company, usually claimed by one of the couple’s granddaughters.

Above the sink, a pass-through allows the homeowner to be part of the action in the great room while taking in a sweeping view of the lake.

The countertop space between the wall ovens was where the sink and window were in the original kitchen.

The strong, durable qualities of the island’s quartzite make it stand up to any activity and spills that the homeowner and her grandkids dish out.
