Upper Arlington back yard reinvented with entertaining and a hobby in mind

This L-shaped reflection pool glows at dusk. Just past the covered seating area, French doors lead to the new garage.

These front columns were existing, but the steps and entryway are new. The designer was careful to match what's new with the existing, so it looks like everything has always been there.

Votive candles, placed in several of the over 100 custom-built cubbies, provide soft, romantic outdoor lighting.

A dry stacked stone runs along this property line. The designer used limestone throughout the design, in the pavers, steps, benches and columns, because its light hue matches the house and it is meant to be timeless.

Freshly cut peonies and roses add even more to the multi-sensory experience around this outdoor living space.

Back-to-back fireplaces glow on both the covered seating area and the open-air dining space.

To the far right of the home a new three-car garage makes it easier for this homeowner to tinker with his vintage Citroen.

Stunning outdoor lighting accentuates the various gathering areas in this back yard, everything from the tranquil reflection pool to the covered gathering space.

Arches atop the columns and fountain mimic an arched window found on the home’s exterior wall just above.

Walls of privacy have been created around this spacious outdoor living space with trees and shrubs.

New Guinea impatiens, geraniums and salvia add splashes of pink and blue throughout the gardens.
