Functional flip

Owners used unique home remodeling ideas, like swapping a kitchen and a dining room, to create the large entertaining space that they craved

Pendant lights dangle elegantly over this kitchen island, complementing the natural light that streams in from the nearby window.

An existing doorway in the wall between this dining room and kitchen was expanded to 10’ and its height raised to be consistent with other doorways in the home.

These homeowners installed beer tap lines which run through a kitchen wall and connect to a kegerator in the basement.

This large dining room was scaled down by flipping it with the nearby cozy kitchen. The owners felt that this was a better fit as the kitchen—a space where they spend a lot of time—now had the larger footprint.

This kitchen island is topped with a sturdy granite countertop and comes complete with a prep sink and appliances.

A cramped kitchen design was transformed into a spacious culinary haven with plenty of room for multiple cooks, all without having to sacrifice the home's historical character.

These walnut cabinets have a beaded inset and are in keeping with the home’s historical character, a theme that the owners tried to keep steady throughout the whole kitchen remodel.
