Inspiration in stone

Granite kitchen island serves as a centerpiece

With its high ratio of quartz and mica, the granite for these Brazilian Zen granite countertops were likely formed on a saltwater beach. The "tornado-like" effect formed by a wide quartz vein in the granite is a conversation starter.

A custom backsplash was chosen to coordinate with the countertops in this kitchen. Arranged in a linear fashion, ground glass embedded in glass tiles adds sparkle and interest.

This kitchen sink, made from a patented formula of 80 percent granite and 20 percent acrylic resin is non-porous and scratch and stain resistant.

These homeowners delight in discovering new aspects of their unique Brazilian "Zen" granite.

Storage space was vastly enhanced in this home by doubling the width of the kitchen pantry and installing shelving on the inside of the deep double doors.

Exotic Brazilian Teak hardwood flooring--durable and beautiful--is the perfect backdrop to the centerpiece of this kitchen--the custom-designed central island that features plenty of room for seating and food prep.

The kitchen appliances in this home all contribute to the convenience factor. This induction cooktop, for instance, sits at one end of the 10-foot island where there is plenty of space for food prep, but not so far away to be alienated.
