A Cincinnati-area family knock down walls to reveal a dream kitchen

A dramatic cast stone range hood replaces short upper cabinets in this kitchen remodel. For the most part, the kitchen was designed around the hood, and it's the homeowner's favorite past of the new design.

Moving the butler’s pantry allowed the designers who worked on this remodel to gain space for the kitchen. The sink/dishwasher area sits four feet closer to what is now the dining room wall.

An undermounted farmhouse sink serves as the main prep area in this kitchen, but additional sinks at the bar and island come in handy when entertaining.

This range hood was cast specifically to look like the exterior of this home—a Tudor—in order to bring the beauty of the outside in.

The sitting area with plenty of built-in storage has taken over an area that previously was home to a kitchen pantry, complete with a vintage refrigerator. The refrigerator has been relocated, but saved by the couple because it is a part of the house’s history.

A cramped butler’s pantry was removed in order to open up the space. The new bar area is included in the open kitchen’s floor plan but conveniently located next to the dining room.
