Splendor for the senses

Cincinnati-area backyard stunner is a feast for the eyes, ears and more

For those daring enough to try, glass bridge help to complete a unique walking path through this garden. The bridges offer a glimpse of the Koi pond underneath.

The sound of water rushing over rocks—complements of the stunning double waterfall—is another amazing sensory element of this garden.

To help support the koi fish population in this pond, the waterfalls run around-the-clock, year ‘round.

This spacious back yard includes a 15,000-gallon pond, a double waterfall and several walking paths.

Leftover material from this home's indoor remodeling projects was used to build this shed and the lower greenhouse.

Colorful flowers and an outdoor statue clearly show this owner's love of gardening, a passion that she inherited from her mother.

After the owners purchased this 1969 home, they started taking down trees and doing everything possible to create this gorgeous view.

A rock outcropping that juts over this pond serves as a suitable perch for guests who want to get a little bit closer to the fish.

At night this spacious garden glows with landscaping lights and underwater lighting tucked beneath the sandstone overhangs.

A 7-foot-long custom wood swing overlooks the creek and tall, deer-deterring wood fencing wraps around the property.

Nature surrounds this charming outdoor seating area. Overhead a small roofed structure provides shade from the elements.

This covered patio area serves as a transition between the home and the gardens. Transoms and fans bring in light and air and hostas revel in the shade.

“Only about 20 percent of the plants are flowering or herbaceous perennials, and just five percent are annuals,” says the landscaper who worked on this property. The rest are shrubs and ornamental trees.
