Contemporary kitchen for nearly empty nesters

Architect - Randy Travis , Builder - Sterling Homes , Interior designer - Amy Holt

Written by: Karen Bradner

With only one child left at home, nearly empty nesters, John and Judy Gierl decided that the size and upkeep of their Anderson home was simply too much. They wanted something closer to town with a modern flair, so they settled on a home being built in Columbia Tusculum, a four-story house with everything from an exercise room to an elevator so the couple can stay in the home long term. The home also has extra bedrooms, just in case one of their children stops by to visit, and a large kitchen area to host Sunday dinners and other events.
