Seven kitchens serve up something for everyone
Written by: Amy Howell Hirt
As the hub of activity, kitchens can tell you a lot about a home’s flavor. And those on display at HOMEARAMA® are no different. At this year’s show, hosted by the Home Builders Association of Greater Cincinnati, the design teams cooked up something for every taste, with delicious finishes serving as the cherry on top.
The kitchen of The Rustica by John Candle Homes delicately balances contemporary elegance and rustic warmth. Here, a chandelier with modern crystal bars descends from a wood-planked ceiling laid with thick beams—echoing a design seen in the adjacent great room. These darker tones serve to counter the space’s crisp white-and-gray palette and glossy mosaic tiles.

A barn-like vaulted ceiling spanning the kitchen and breakfast room is a defining feature in Pine Valley by Justin Doyle Homes’ urban farmhouse aesthetic. With beadboard detailing and wood beams suspended by iron dowels, it syncs with both the white cabinetry and hand-forged influences like a metal range hood. On the island, a quartz countertop and deep gray cabinetry communicate the sophistication that continues throughout the home.

White Shaker-style cabinet doors pair with slab-front drawers to define the clean, transitional style of The Monaco by Infinity Homes. The expansive cabinetry extends around a 45-degree corner—highlighting a truly open floor plan that blurs the lines between spaces. Offering a wet bar with wine racks, a beverage cooler and ample granite countertops, it provides an additional prep area and gathering spot that doesn’t infringe on the chef’s work triangle.

Inspired by timeless 1920s style and traditional homes found in Mount Lookout and Hyde Park, the kitchen in The Jefferson by Sterling Homes offers an updated approach to classic elegance. While open to the great room and dining room, the space is defined by a paneled doorway—underscoring a devotion to woodworking typically seen in older homes.
