Powder rooms with personality

Homeowners show no fear when decorating these little gems

  • Housetrends

Even though they are typically the smallest rooms in our homes, powder rooms often get showered with more than their fair share of pizazz. The four basic elements necessary—vanity, toilet, lighting and mirror—take on an inviting appeal when extra touches on the walls, floors, and even sometimes the ceilings, come in to play. Take a look at our collection and see which style suits your fancy.

The art deco style tile was the launch point for homeowners who wanted to have a little fun with their powder room. Next came the vanity that ties in beautifully with that era. The console provides ample storage and floats for easy cleaning beneath it.

Mexican artist Frida Kahlo was the inspiration for this lush, colorful room. Aquarium Deep Sea wallpaper by Graham & Brown, selected by the homeowner, and a Forest Green vanity add to the rich palette. Brushed gold fixtures introduce a bit of bling while Vintage Oak luxury vinyl flooring grounds the space with a warm, rustic touch.

The launching point for this bath was the homeowner’s request for a black and white design along with a high-gloss vanity. Designers added pattern on the floor using Form tile from Interceramic. The tile complements the wallpaper used just outside this space.

Knowing the homeowner was partial to navy blue, the designer chose soft gray for the cabinetry and flooring to provide an appealing contrast. Even the ceiling is painted the same color—Sherwin-Williams Sea Mariner. Statement sconces complete the classic look.
