Beautiful bedrooms and baths

20 Years of Housetrends Showcase

  • Housetrends
Sliding glass doors off this bedroom lead to an expansive balcony that is also accessible from the living room allowing a view of festive homerun fireworks. Even the accompanying black and white master bath has a spectacular view, but remote controlled shades offer privacy when needed.

All year long we are celebrating 20 years of showcasing spectacular spaces to inspire ideas as you consider a room makeover or whole-home remodel.  In this issue we are sharing some of our favorite bedrooms and baths.

Sleepover  Special

Four built-in beds with a center staircase provide the perfect set-up for children to hang out with siblings, friends or cousins. Two full-size beds on the lower level give an extra bit of wiggle room should bed-time stories–read by mom, dad, grandma or grandpa–become part of the evening’s entertainment.

Climb the Walls

Horizontal planks of engineered hardwood flooring extend a rustic feel onto the walls in this guest bedroom. Because the boards are applied to the wall that’s visible from the room’s entry, this warm treatment creates an immediate, eye-catching focal point.

Night Visions

Sliding glass doors off this bedroom lead to an expansive balcony that is also accessible from the living room allowing a view of festive homerun fireworks. Even the accompanying black and white master bath has a spectacular view, but remote controlled shades offer privacy when needed.

Charm of the Century

Warm pendant lights, neutral colors, and large area rugs soften this charming bedroom space that is perfectly appropriate for the 100-plus-year-old-home. The bedroom addition also includes space for an oversized bathroom complete with soapstone countertops, a spacious soaking tub and a large shower.

Glamorous Getaway

This bedroom got an exquisite facelift with the addition of custom woodworking on the ceiling, columns and built-in shelving. Elegant touches include a chandelier replacing a ceiling fan and a wall of draperies serving as a stately backdrop for the king-size bed.
An accompanying 20 x 20-foot bath includes a 7 x 3-foot island.

Outside In

In this owner’s retreat, a wall of windows facing the woods was carefully planned to make the tranquil scenery the main feature of this symmetrically balanced room. The adjoining bathroom features a floating island vanity—two vanities positioned as mirror images—and an oversized shower with a high window that brings in daylight and a bit of green.

Strips and Stripes

This bedroom’s tall ceiling allows room to play vertically with architectural elements. A sleek strip of molding lining the wall and tray ceiling was stained to match the modern wood headboard. The effect transforms the bed into the alluring focal point.
