Durable hardscape ideas

Composite decking for the long haul
Composite decking is extremely durable with superior fade and stain resistance.

If you are planning to add a deck or replace an old wooden deck, one of many popular hardscape ideas, you might be considering composite material as a possible option. The experts at Trex are sharing some of the reasons why a composite deck might be a good option.

Composite decking for the long haul

One of the biggest benefits is the durability of composite decking. The material won’t fade in the sun, allowing it to maintain its performance and beauty for years to come. The newer-generation composites featured in all Trex decking collections have a protective shell technology that provide superior fade and stain resistance, and prevents the composite materials from warping or decaying. In addition to high-performance and enhanced aesthetics, Trex decking offers a 25-year limited fade and stain warranty.

On hot, sunny days, lighter colored boards tend to be slightly cooler than darker composite boards. In extensive studies, it has been found that the color of the decking board, regardless if it’s made of composite or wood, is the most significant factor in the “heat retention” of the board. In these studies, pressure-treated wood stained the same color as Trex was actually hotter than Trex in the same test conditions.
