Remodeling ideas add flair to a guest bath

Dramatic vessel bowl sink dazzles guests
In this guest bathroom, an absolutely dazzling vessel bowl sink is highlighted by a brushed nickel frame.

After several trying years, including the death of her husband, followed shortly by the passing of her sister, Sandy wanted to finally take control of her life. The homeowner wanted to turn over a new leaf and make her house fit who she was after that terrible period of time, instead of staring at the same walls that saw her and her late husband entertaining friends and family while raising two children together. “I needed to make this house my own. My friends and family helped me so much through that difficult time, but I wanted to be able to share my house with people again.”

So it became that the kitchen, family room and all the bathrooms were blown out, redesigned and remodeled by Jim Stephens of Van Gogh Capabilities and his well qualified crew with Sandy’s tastes in mind.

Tiles and stones work to create a welcoming guest bath

The bathroom off the family room, or “spa bathroom” as Sandy calls it, is a tighter space that needed a bit of flair, as it is the room that would be used most often by visitors.

The tile choice is a deeper tone, so it was lightened visually by the accent stone and neutral paint color.

The vessel sink bowl is highlighted by a brushed nickel frame and minimal cabinetry above the commode gives storage without taking away from overall space.

In the end, Sandy couldn’t be more pleased with the new look of her home. An added bonus—over the extended remodeling period, Sandy and Jim built a strong friendship and both feel that during the process they gained a better understanding of the importance of living their lives to the fullest.
