Each year, when we visit the collection of HOMEARAMA® homes, we look for design ideas that may cross over from home to home and stand out as a bit of a theme or trend.
This year, it seems like that theme—or pattern if you will—is patterns, mostly in the form of striking wallpapers. Regardless of whether the homes are monochromatic or completely chromatic in nature, patterns play a big part in their interior designs. In addition to wallcoverings, this may come in the form of fireplace stones, backsplash tiles, paint colors, or fabrics covering chairs and throw pillows.
To help jog your memory after you’ve toured the homes, we’ve selected some of the standouts.
“Wallpapers were chosen to create an ambiance in each space…‘dark and moody’ in the bar and powder room and ‘tranquil and zen’ in the bedroom.” – Jill Koch
“Our design direction consisted of a neutral scheme of casual textures blended with timeless silks that are highlighted by black and gold finishes.” – David A. Millett
“To create harmony in a home you must consider proportion, scale and balance as well as hues of colors and light.” – Kelly Wynne
“I like adding interesting wallpaper or a fun color to really give a room its personality.” – Amy Holt
“Patterns in the powder room and laundry give the spaces energy and visual interest, while the textures in the lower level and master bedroom create another layer of dimension.” – Jill Koch
