When homeowners Carrie and Chris decided to undergo a renovation they had two goals in mind: to create a space big enough to accomodate their family of eight, and to encorporate the sprawling landscape and woods into their home design. Working with several teams of experts: the award-winning team of design/build remodeler J.S. Brown & Co. along with residential design firm Jim Wright, designers Monte Baus and Associates and Benchmark Landscape, the homeowners were able to get just what they wanted.
The bathroom has high ceilings and a floating island vanity, all of which adds to the soothing, spa-like feeling.
Even the large glass shower in the bathroom connects to the outdoors with a decent-sized window that looks out to the surrounding landscape.
Dominated by solid doors and opaque windows, privacy prevails in most washrooms. Consequently, showers—and bathrooms in general—are often lit by eye-straining artificial light. This shower, however, bucks the system with a daringly positioned window, allowing the user a view of the surrounding landscape.
“It sits right on the ravine and it’s very peaceful,” says Carrie.
