Christmas trees shine amid holiday decor

  • Housetrends
Christmas tree favors the Steelers
A sports theme is seen clearly throughout this lower level, so for the holiday season the owners add a Christmas tree decked out with Pittsburgh Steelers accessories.

Decorating for Christmas is a tradition that Rose holds very dear to her heart. She watched her mother create a festive home when she was a child and that spirit sparked her own interest in sprinkling a little bit of Christmas throughout every room of her own home. Rose and her husband, Larry, express a lot of their holiday cheer through Christmas trees, 15 to be exact, each with its own theme and inspiration. We invite you to take a peek at some of the trees, and other jovial décor in Rose and Larry’s home. Enjoy!

Dining room

Tree adds a festive touch to a master bathroom

Hands down the most feminine tree in the house can be found in the master bath. Dubbed the “diva tree,” it features ornaments such as miniature fur coats, shoes and handbags. “This is where my husband is very accommodating because this is a very girlie tree,” Rose says. But she loves having a tree in the bathroom because it’s a festive way to start or end her day.

Multiple trees and garland adorn the master bedroom, complete with plenty of Christmas lights. “It makes it a great and festive place to unwind, and you just appreciate everything around you when you’re in your own bedroom,” Rose says.

Lower level

The name of the game in the lower level is football, baseball and dedication to all things sports. Of course you will find a Steelers-themed tree with team ornaments and other black and gold décor.

Christmas tree with a culinary theme

Kitchen

The tree in the kitchen stands near a cozy fireplace and is adorned with a collection of fun ornaments—many given as gifts. Most of the ornaments are food-related and one of Rose’s favorites is a stack of pancakes with maple syrup dripping down the sides. The yummy-themed tree is topped with a cheerful red bow and two gingerbread people can be found sitting on the tree skirt to complete the look.

Holiday decor makes an appearance in a powder room

Powder room

Unexpected rooms, like a small powder room, don’t go unnoticed in this house. Knowing that plenty of friends and family will see this room throughout the holiday season, Rose wanted to make sure a tree ended up there too. She describes the room as a winter wonderland, with Father Christmas and a fully decorated tree on hand.

Christmas tree is a treat for everyone—especially the dog

Mud room

Even the couple’s yellow lab has a mini tree—complete with doggie bone ornaments.

Christmas tree with traditional decor

Great room

This is the most traditional tree in the house and it’s also the couple’s family tree where they open gifts on Christmas morning. There are a lot of hand-made ornaments, as well as collector’s pieces creating an eclectic and highly personal collection. The tree is topped with a traditional angel looking down.

Holiday decorating ideas with sentimental value

One special set of decorations has sparked a new tradition for Rose and her family. Three wooden Santa sculptures are housed in the great room, which have been carved from the couple’s previous Christmas trees. The first Santa was given to the couple for the first Christmas they spent in the house. Always having at least one fresh tree, the couple plans on adding a new Santa each year.
