Driveway creates delightful curb appeal

  • Housetrends
Special pavers selected for a driveway project
This driveway is split around an island that features knockout roses and a large oak tree. The pavers used for this project are particularly strong in order to withstand the weight of multiple cars over the years.

Terry and Dennis Lopez and their three children—Alexandra, 21; Dennis, 19; and Dylan,17—aren’t the only ones who love their new driveway. Terry came up with the initial design and enlisted Mike Loomis of Landscape Fusion to bring the unique idea to life.

Pavers create a striking driveway

Split around an island planted with knockout roses and an elderly oak tree that was purposely saved, the driveway covers 1,800 square feet. Interwoven among 12×12-inch Belgard City Series square ivory pavers is 900 linear feet of artificial turf. These pavers are particularly strong in order to handle many cars over the years. The surface is also very smooth for easy driving.

“This was a top-notch, challenging project—which I enjoy,” says Loomis. “Aligning pavers is hard enough, but making sure that the artificial turf is exactly 6-inches wide between hundreds of pavers takes time and effort.”

“Mike was incredibly efficient. It only took about three weeks to install the driveway and, considering the complexity of the design, I think that was great,” says Terry.

Artificial turf softens a front entry

The entry to the residence, which sits on an angle, was also updated. Loomis and Terry conferred and decided on a variation of the driveway pattern to utilize more artificial turf, making the entryway more welcoming.

“We are thrilled with our lovely driveway,” says Terry. “People walking in the neighborhood often stop to compliment the unique design.”
