My friend Pat's kitchen

A Cincinnati-area home gets an updated kitchen

By choosing to forego upper cabinetry over the sink and range area, the team created a considerably more spacious feel.

From the vantage point of the dining area, the remodeled kitchen looks primarily black and white.

The white paint, on a hutch believed to be original to the home, was professionally stripped and mirrors were replaced with clear glass.

Electricity was run to both hutches to allow for display lighting and a tucked away spot for the coffee maker and microwave.

A collection of cake plates dominates the display space in one of the hutches. A wall between the refrigerator and the basement door was removed, as was the radiator under the drawers on the left.

The awkward wall between the kitchen and the butler’s pantry was taken down as far as it could be, structurally, to allow for an open flow to the dining room.
