Tipping optional

Custom home bars and pubs are a hot commodity in newer homes

Tucked back into an alcove, this cozy home bar is the perfect space to spend a relaxing evening for two. Unlike most bars, there is no technology in sight, just a simple chess board, all the better for really spending time with your companion.

Inspiration for bar spaces similar to this one comes from centuries-old European pubs, with subtle differences here and there. The bar stools, for example, have become more comfortable with padded leather seats.

Glass front bar cabinets contribute plenty of storage to this space, allowing the homeowners to keep plenty of beverages and glasses in stock without over-crowding the area.

It's all casual elegance and dark colors in this home bar design. The dark wood used in this space establishes traditional ties, while the calming blue adds a modern twist.

This design includes a full home bar in its lower level, complete with two televisions to catch the game and a wine cellar.

Is it a library, an office space or a home bar? It seems as if these homeowners a bringing an age-old tradition back to style by introducing a small wet bar in an office-like space. All in all, it creates a homey vibe and the shelves provide ample storage for any glasses or bottles.

A chandelier adds a serious wow factor to this bar area, but never outweighs the rest of the room due to the various lighting placed in, under and over the cabinets.
