Couple creates a serene landscape design to enjoy the beauty of nature
These homeowners incorporated the natural landscape into their Japanese-inspired landscape design. The principle of "borrowed view" where existing scenery becomes part of the total design is evident in this area where the arching trees morph seamlessly into the design.
These homeowners are partial to paths, natural groupings of plants and the sound of water so their raking garden features, among many other things, the soothing sounds of a fountain.
By changing the elevation of the landscape in different areas, more than one vantage point is created.
Landscaping rocks and stones are a major part of this landscape design. In addition to creating points of interest, they also serve as stepping stones and walking paths.
A deep goldfish pond with waterfall creates lively sound in this landscape, as well as an additional perspective on nature.
This landscape design is all about relaxation, a point reinforced by the dry riverbed created using varying sized stones and rocks and that is bridged by a "chidori", a slightly offset path that causes one to "gingerly focus."
